New Garmin GPS Units Feature Expandable Memory?
Nov 25, 2005
Maybe this should be an In the Rumours article rather than In the News, but an online fishing store, Basspro.com, has a listing for a Garmin 60cx which features "Expandable memory, 64 MB TransFlash memory card included for optional downloaded maps". There is no word of this product on Garmin's website but this may be a case of an in-the-know retailer jumping the gun in listing an upcoming product, based on knowledge given to them by their suppliers. If that's true, then the prayers of legions of Garmin owners will soon be answered.
The latest scuttlebutt is that Garmin will debut the 60Cx and their other "x" models in January at CES (Consumer Electronics Show). Also, the upgrade to a SiRF III chipset and user expandable memory will cover more models than just the 60C/CS series. Also included will be the 76C/CS and Legend and Vista models.
