Mile Marker's New Vmx2 Is First Electric Winch To Feature Variable Speed Technology
Oct 19, 2006
Although known primarily for its ground-breaking hydraulic winches for non-commercial vehicles, Mile Marker is set to be recognized as an innovator in the electric winch market, too. Their new Vmx2 is the first ever electric winch to provide variable speed control. We don't have any specs regarding the min. and max. line speeds, but if the range is wide enough, this could be a very useful feature. Slow speed provides better control and therefore greater safety. We'll be keeping an eye on Mile Marker to see what the actual performance specs turn out to be.
At the recent Annual Conference of the Performance Warehouse Association, Mile Marker International Inc. previewed its new winch products for 2007. Milemarker’s engineers have developed the first variable speed winch for off-road vehicles, combining the newest microcomputer and cellular technology. The most important of these inventions is the software for the microcomputer on the new M.O.S.F.E.T. control for the DC motors that operate these new winches.
Richard Aho, President and CEO of Mile Marker International, Inc., said: “In all my years of introducing new products, this is the first time I’ve ever received 100% positive feedback. All of our distributors immediately realized that we had leaped forward from the traditional electro-mechanical control of the 1960’s. This development brings Mile Marker winches into the 21st century and the forefront of the industry, as I first indicated at our Annual Shareholders Meeting in May.”
