Warn Wireless Winch Control System
Feb 22, 2008
Now available at Warn retailers is the new Warn Wireless Control System. This new remote will retrofit to all Warn winches with a 5-wire electrical system and has a range of 100'. We can't imagine the situation where you would be winching from 100' away but if if you need to, it is now do-able.
Warn claims this is an easy system to install, requiring mounting a receiver under your hood and wiring this unit to your current solenoid box. The receiver is potted to make it extremely resistant to water and other bad things that make their way under the hood of your rig. The other part of this product is the remote itself which is also weather-proof and equipped with large buttons for easy use when wearing gloves.
At first glance this product looks like yet another item to put on the "do I really need this??" list. However, one safety point does come to mind when comparing this to the traditional wired remote. Even the slightest moment of inattention when using a winch can be the cause of great difficulties or possibly even physical harm and we have in the past sucked up a wired remote cable into a winch spool that was under load, immediately destroying the unit. Naturally this will bring all winching activity to a screeching halt. With this wireless unit you no longer have to wrap your wired remote cable around your bumper, around your mirror etc in order to make sure that it is safe from being entangled in your winch rope. Your attention is never diverted by the need to ensure that the wired remote isn't getting caught on something. This product will serve a useful purpose for the 4-wheeler looking for that extra bit of convenience and safety.
