Get Your Geek On With Jeep's Call of Duty: Black Ops Edition
Oct 22, 2010
Taking game merchandising tie-ins to a whole new level, Chrysler has introduced a limited edition 2011 Jeep JK Rubicon based on the Call of Duty: Black Ops video game. The release date, set for November 2010, will coincide with the November 9 release of the game.
Anyone expecting this Rubicon to take the title away from the Toyota Hilux as the vehicle of choice for third-world armies looking for a base on which to build a "technical" will be sadly disappointed. The Call of Duty enhancements will be limited to styling and passenger convenience touches to the interior and exterior of the vehicle. In other words, no squad automatic weapons or man-portable rocket launchers.
Notable features include and all-black body with Call of Duty: Black Ops graphics on the roof and front quarter panels; Rubicon wheels painted a high-gloss Mineral Gray; tail light guards and a Mopar fuel-filler door. Underneath it all is the standard Rubicon off-road-ready drivetrain so despite the marketing frills, this is still a very capable off-road vehicle.
