Rally at the Legislature for Public Access to Public Land!
Nov 25, 2000
A public rally is being organized at the BC Legislature Grounds for Saturday, November 25, 2:00pm. The BC Legislature Grounds are in downtown Victoria BC surrounding the legislative buildings. Adjacent to the Empress Hotel and the BC Museum and the inner harbour.
Near Victoria is where the local club, the Island Rock Crawlers, put on their annual event called Rock Crawl which has been cancelled for 2001 due to uncertainty over whether or not it will be legal to be in the area at the time. The theme for this rally is "Public Access to Public Lands" and it is imperative that we have a large turn out in order to prove our point that Harbourview lands or no Harbourview lands, we NEED an area to do our sports (4 wheeling, motorcycling, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, etc). We will be hosting a variety of guest speakers (if you know of someone that would be good as a speaker, let me know please) that will speak to our cause. We have prepared a brochure of information, advertisements for the rally, posters for businesses and your vehicles and we will be selling bumper stickers (available by the end of this week). The word is already spreading quickly so please help to get the message out to everyone.
We need as many people as possible to show the government and the media that offroad recreationists are a voting and economic force to be reckoned with.
This is going to be the turning point in our battle for access to public land. If we can't field 1000 demonstrators, it is going to look like we are a tiny, special interest group that can be ignored with no consequences to the gov't.
Let's prove them wrong.
